GREEN GADGETS

Stickems

GruffCarson

Kids love smartphones and tablets and some lucky teens going back to school may be taking a phone with them. But when fingers are touching them all day, phones get mucky very quickly. Here’s a neat, green and funky alternative to chemical wipes and sprays. Stickems are made from ultra-fine microfibre technology and remove grease and dirt onto their sticky surface. They even poke into grooves to remove hard- to-reach grime. We’ve tried them and they really do work! Then, using their sticky side, you attach them to the back of the phone for use whenever you need them. They come in dozens of really cool designs and shapes.

Stickems are the handy and fashionable way of maintaining clean screens, free from fingerprints, grease and makeup. Made from ultra fine microfibre technology, Stickems are designed to be used over and over again – and best of all they stick directly to your product, so they can’t go missing…

Everyone has a gadget with a glass screen that needs to be kept clean – be it iPod, laptop, TV, iPad, mobile phone or camera. If, like me, you end up just rubbing your thumb over the screen to clean it, or use your clothing as to wipe of any smears, you’ll know that this is not the best solution – and in some cases can cause the screen to be scratched over time.

Now, with the introduction of Stickems, you can have a handy, portable cloth at your disposal all the time. Stickems are small clothes which you can rub over your screen and, when you’re done the reverse side has a self-cling back that allows you to stick it to the back of your gadget – so you don’t lose it.

Stickems

While it might seem like an expletive a Stickem is a nice way of ridding your phones screen of greasy fingermarks and smudges. I am sure most use a shirt sleeve and sooner or later they use the shirt button and the screen never fully recovers.

As the name implies the Stickem adheres to the back of your phone and you remove it and use the reverse side to remove the grime from the screen. I was sent the largest size 9x5cm and these come with humorous logos. Mine was ‘Sod Calm and Get Angry’ a take off of the recently rediscovered wartime ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’. There are others as well.

The smallest are circular at 3cm, the middle size are rectangular at close to 4x3cm and both of these have cartoon like images.

I have been using my ‘Sod Calm and Get Angry’ on the back of several phones since just after the Gadget Show around two months ago and while I tend to be quite careful all the screens still look bright and clean, the logo on the back has raised more than the occasional remark so maybe choose yours with care to suit your environment.

A fun way to keep makeup off your phone

No, I’m not just posting random pictures of cats dressed as Audrey Hepburn for the fun of it; this is one of many cool Stickems designs.

‘What the hell is a Stickems?!’ I hear you cry. Well, they’re a screen cleaner made from microfibre technology, and can be used up to 1,000 times to remove yucky makeup smears from your phone screen. The great thing is, they can be stuck on the back of your phone (pretty!) and then peeled off when needed.
